Lets say I have a subject that has 6 hours of lesson per week.
We dont mind having 2,2,2 (2 continuous hrs per day for 3 days) or 2,2,1,1 (2 continuous hrs for 2 days and 1 hr for 2 days)
If there a way to input such activities?

I was hoping that this will give FET more flexibility to do the allocation (2 options), rather than we fix a 2,2,2 option.

You can add, but it is a bit of work:

Add 2+2+1+1, without min days constraint. Then min 1 day 100% between 2,2,1(first) and min 1 day 100% between 2,2,1(second).

Or you can add without min days constraints, but use students/teachers activity tag max 2 hours daily (add a tag to these activities).

Teck Hock

Sorry dont quite understand.
Can explain in more detail?

For activities already created, how do I change the min days and %?

Go to the dialog of min days between activities constraints, or to the all time constraints list and you can use a filter for the constraints.

Teck Hock

How do we use students/teachers activity tag max 2 hours daily?

Liviu Lalescu

These are time constraints, by default disabled, so you need to enable them from the settings. Don't worry, they should work OK.

Time constraints > Teachers/students.

Add a new tag AT, then add this tag to the 2+2+1+1 activities, then add a constraint (for teachers or for students, I am not sure in your case).

I would prefer my first approach, using min days between activities, but practice might show that also the tags approach works OK.

Teck Hock

Erm. U are a bit too fast for me.
The first approach

Add 2+2+1+1, without min days constraint. This ok
Then min 1 day 100% between 2,2,1(first) and min 1 day 100% between 2,2,1(second). How do I do this?

A1(2), A2(2), A3(1), A4(1).

Add min 1 days 100% between A1,A2,A3.
Add min 1 days 100% between A1,A2,A4.

Add new constraints from the time constraints > min days between activities.

Teck Hock

I think I manage to to do.
But how does this help to the requirement I need?
Can help explain to me?

What if I have a 4 hours lesson and can only accept either 22 or 211?

Min 1 days between A1, A2, A3 means (A1,A2) cannot be on the same day, (A1,A3), (A2,A3) the same.

About A1(2), A2(1), A3(1): add min 1 days between (A1,A2) and between (A1,A3).

Oh, and for both cases, please forgive me, I forgot something: for the two activities with duration 1, add min 1 days between activities with 0% percentage, and consecutive if same day forced.

You can try on some small examples, with few days/hours.

Teck Hock

I think I am able to understand a bit.

Min 1 days between A1, A2, A3 means (A1,A2,A3) cannot be on the same day
Min 1 days between A1, A2, A4 means (A1,A2,A4) cannot be on the same day
However there is no restriction between A3 and A4 which means that A3 and A4 may be on same day or different days.

But I dont under this: "for the two activities with duration 1, add min 1 days between activities with 0% percentage, and consecutive if same day forced."

If we add a min 1 day between A3 and A4, wouldnt it force A3 and A4 to be on different day?
What is the meaning of "with 0% percentage"?

Thks

Liviu Lalescu

0% percentage means FET can put them on the same day or not, whichever is easier for it. But we need to add this constraint, so that we add consecutive if same day = true.

Teck Hock

Any difference from: "min 0 days and we also add consecutive if same day = true"?

Liviu Lalescu

The program does not allow min 0 days between activities constraints (1 is minimum for the spin box).
