Hi all. I'm using FET since past year. I must tell that our timetable is a very restrictive one, with lots of weekly hours for all teachers and many restrictions.

This file I attach is easily solved by FET, but something strange happens with this timetable: I've grouped the 2 weekly activities of "Educacio Fisica" (gymnastics) for all students groups, but I must leave one 2 of this activities not grouped because otherwise FET can't find a solution, particulary, when I try to group 2 activities "Educacio Fisica Quart B", I can't get FET to solve it.

I say this just to notice it, not as a problem I must solve. Just whether it can help to improve FET.

Regards!

I think the problematic id-s are 338 and 339.

I tried to remove the other grouped constraints and add grouped 338 and 339. It solves the timetable.

What I think is that your timetable with all grouped constraints is too difficult for FET or for any other tool/person doing the timetable. I saw that the teacher Xisco is very constrained, maybe you can relax his constraints.

Later Edit: maybe you can lower/remove other constraints.

Yeah, Xisco is the problem ;) (hope he doesn't read this)

You are right Liviu, those are the problematic. Our timetable is very restrictive at teacher level, so I think it's impossible to get that constraint. Anyway I think FET is doing a great job finding a good solution.

One more question. I noticed that without grouping those activities, FET gets a result in 30 seconds, more or less, but when adding that restriction, FET gets 150 out of 189 activities placed but it doesn't go any far, on the other hand, the number of placed activities decreases and never come up again. Is it normal?

Many thanks for the answers.

Yes, it is normal. It cannot place probably the last activity for Xisco, which may be number 151.

Ok, I understand.
