FET downloads and crtversion.txt checks statistics 2025-02-02

Hello, forum,

I list here the statistics for (this beginning) of 2025 (remember that FET-7.0.0 was released on 20 January):

Number of different ip-s to download fet-7.0.0.tar.bz2 with code 200: 757
Number of different ip-s to download fet-7.0.0.exe with code 200: 2092
Number of different ip-s to download fet-7.0.0-qt5.exe with code 200: 332
Number of different ip-s to download fet-7.0.0-qt5-32bit.exe with code 200: 248
Number of different ip-s to download fet-7.0.0 appimage with code 200: 93
Number of different ip-s to download fet-7.0.0-gnu-linux-executable.tar.bz2 with code 200: 99
Number of different ip-s to download ANY fet-7.0.0 with code 200: 2705
Number of different ip-s to download crtversion.txt with code 200: 1432

I estimate that at most 10% of FET users enable checking for updates on startup, so I estimate that there are at least 14 k FET worldwide users in ~January 2025.

There are also some (many?) downloads in SourceForge.net (now: 69 sources tar.bz2, and 347 Windows exe) and in many other mirror sites. Also on timetabling.de (Volker can say more about that). Also on Darren's site, the macOS executable version (Darren can tell you more).

I guess there are even more users, since FET is a tool that is used at most schools for around 1 or 2 weeks per year only.

On timetabling the January statistics is (all FET versions):
