Good day,

Is there a way to structure StElTo to split a line in two? For example, some lines require 6 periods and other require 3. Is it possible to split the 6 lines into matching two with 3 periods eacch? Does it make sense?

Yes.

There are 2 variants for this:

a) By the other way around.
Go to the "Subjects" tab and select "Allocate two Blocks" (or "Allocate two Lines"; since I renamed "Lines" into "Blocks" with the latest release).
So you can double all subjects with 3 periods into 6 periods. So instead of "half the 6" you must "double the 3".

or

b) Or go to the "Hours" tab and select "Place into" and allow/place the "3" hours into the "6" hours periods. This is in fact a simplified version.

If there is a solution, then b) will be faster. As soon as you generate it in FET, it will be look nice. In StElTo variant b) is not so easy to see that there are only 3 periods used (since virtual 6 are used). Variant a) is more exact and there might be better solutions, but it might be also slower and might be a bit more "difficult" to read, since it double the number of lines.
