Quotehi all,
tomorrow we are starting the school year with the timetables generated with FET 5.6.2 (I didn't use the last version because I didn't want to show the not-available crosses -x-

The timetables have come up 100% normative compliant and 98% teachers' wishes respected. It was a very difficult timetable with many subjects with different teachers and groups, and space constraints, etc

Thanks very much for your work and for sharing it.

I modified a bit your data file: I changed weights of all min n days constraints to 100% and made min days between activities = 2 for all constraints with 2 activities. I obtained a much better timetable, with say hours of Sports on Monday and Wednesday, not on Monday and Tuesday. Why didn't you do that also?

first off, the sports teachers do not care if they have n days between activities with the same group, they only want their classe not to overlap more than 2 sports teachers at the time. besides, i do need some gaps in timetables for 2 reasons:

1- teachers have a number of lessons a week, and a number of hours they have to be present at school. if i don't give them any gaps, they will feel horrible if they have to stay longer after classes. it's less painful if they have gaps

2- I need to give 3 additional hours to each teacher for substitutions. I need 4 available teachers during all the hours when students are at school. these teachers will only be there, and go to a classroom if some teacher is ill, or needs help.

I hope this explains your doubts. The law is very strict on those subjects over here  :)

Yes, but I meant for all subject with 2 lessons per week, like English, or French, or other subjects. It is better if they are 2 days apart from each other, like on Tue-Thu, rather than being on consecutive days.
