You probably locked some or all the activities in time, or opened the _data_and_timetable.fet file. You can examine the all time/space constraints and see such locking constraints. I just unlocked all activities from the Timetable menu.

FET-7.5.5 is the future version, only on my hard disk, I forgot to tell you this. Just ignore the warning!

I think you need to unlock all your activities and generate again. I attach the unlocked file and a timetable which I obtained in a few minutes (it was the first in a multiple generation on 8 threads).

Permanently locked means something else. If the weight is 100%, the constraints are respected. If they are not permanently locked, it means they can be unlocked by the user from the interface with a single click.

You can attach your fet file, if possible. Or send it to fet4 AT lalescu.ro if it is private.

I think you forgot to assign the activities to rooms, or the rooms to buildings. Maybe you can send us your fet file, so I can check. Here, archived if it is too large, or to fet4 AT lalescu.ro, if it is private.

There is not already available in FET an import from XML. I hope it is possible to do this, but you need custom coding - a script or a program.

Your timetable seems locked in time and space. I think you need to unlock it, to be able to generate a new one.

On Wednesday, 22 October 2025, FET-7.5.4 was released. From the ChangeLog:

  - Changed the license of the program to the GNU Affero General Public License version 3 (Volker Dirr suggested to remove the term 'or later').
  - Logic bugs fixed in the generation algorithm.
  - Added a new type of constraint, activities max total number of students in selected time slots (suggested by Furkan Kızılaslan). Unfortunately, this constraint might have a bad behavior in practice; we need to scrutinize it before using it, and use it only if strictly necessary.
  - Implemented additional keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+Shift+T/S/R for teachers/students/rooms days horizontal timetables. Also, the user can enable some other keyboard shortcuts from the Settings > Interface menu: + for adding, M for modifying, Delete for removing, A for activating, D for deactivating, C for comments, U for up, J for down, and W for weights (suggested by Alami Mohammed).
  - Minor improvements.

Fine, I created a new entry in the Tools/Links section of the FET homepage, in section 2 (proprietary), and placed it before FET READ, which is old and unmaintained anymore.

Then, I created a new FET forum board in FET Tools, and fetviewer is a moderator.

Volker, let's add it! FET viewer is different from what FET does, I think it is in the direction of TiTiTo, if I understood correctly. We only have to gain from a tool which enhances and promotes FET.

fetviewer said he will update the description, to reflect that it is not free software, but freeware.

I will go now on my walk and in 1-2 hours add it, if there are no other problems.
