started to realize that is a hell of a job.....
I have managed to use the main constraint- same hour start but cannot reproduce the even distribution (same day exactly) even if I used the min 5 days/max 69 day between activities.(still very necessary for a part of the activities)
As you know Liviu, the timetable I used in the normal week version had more than 1000 activities (6 years of students, basically each year dividend into a minimum of 12-13 groups)+ 6 years*3 groups+6 years *2 groups.....all sharing same sets of rooms and most of the teachers...

made an attempt...
this is how I did it...
made 70 days (14 weeks with Mo to Fr) 14*5
inserted a activity splited in 14 parts of 2 hours
it computes and makes a timetable with random placement of the activities...
when trying to add a option like "a set of activities have same starting time/day/hour" (trying to reproduce the lectures that should be held the same day/hour...))  it jams....

As I started tu use intensively FET, lately we ended up demanding another approach for our faculty's timetable....we would like a switch from the day- based to week-based arrangements. To be clear, some of the activities are not repertitive each week, but kind of module-based, 2/semester in certain weeks....
I have tried to change name of days and inputed "mo 8-9 to fr-15-16" but I have no separation between days but weeks only...so it is quite complicated to deal with it....
Is there any chance of a magic trick within the software so we can use all facilities( like max gaps/day, min hours between... )?

Unfortunately that is not applicable as it refers to the entire student group for all subjects....I need for only one subject in one dept that uses a specific lab.....

I'm back again with another question related to arrangements of students groups etc.
Is it possible to set the use of a set of activities for a specific number of days?
I mean a similar function like the one in "time/teachers" submenu (minim/maxim days per week).......I have used the function "max days between a set of activities" but it seems not the right one as it groups activities in X succeeding days (and I do not necessarily want that, as my goal would be just to leave 1 or 2 days without activity at a department)?

Saw the snapshot, initially I was intrigued but now I can see the difference. I hope tomorrow I reach the part we were talking about and then I will use the old file to go on with my timetabling....keep you post it..thanks...much obliged!

for sure you understand what I am talking about...I have a year that is divided clasically in 17 groups...but the year works in modules, regardless of groups...so simply adding 17 groups (as I did until this year) is not sufficient as I have to deal with g1 subdivided in module 1,2 and 3....and this for all 17 groups....
I know it it awqward, but this situation appeared only this year due to a dramatic reduction in student number/group....
PS. If it is a matter of a great work, I can use the trick suggested by you, no problem......so do not modify everything just for me....I will come soon with other suggestions and questions

Being already a long-time user of FET (Thanks Liviu & Volker!) I am encountering now another issue....I have a particular year being divided into 17 groups that on their term have several subdivisions/modules...
As I see I have the possibility of dividing only into 16 groups...

Any advice?.....

Am o intrebare...poate mai multe
- pentru programarea sincronizata a unor activitati..adica la materia A, am 2 sali in care trebuie sa pun activitati care toate incep de la aceleasi ore (eg.8,11,14, 17) cu 15 grupe.....ce optiune trebuie sa folosesc? Asa, daca le pun simplu, iese o complicatie mare.......am incercat cu asignarea a 2 grupe/1 sala, dar aici trebuie sa specific clar cele 2 grupe (1,2 apoi 3 cu 4, apoi 5 cu 6 samd) si ma gandeam ca ar fi mai bine sa las softul sa combine grupele, dandu-i astfel o libertate mai mare de miscare.....(nu neaparat ordinea impusa de mine)
- exista posibilitatea de a inseria mai mult de 3 activitati? (3 activities are ordered)...m-ar scapa de o mare problema in sensul ca as reusi legarea a 4-5 cursuri (cate ar fi de obicei) intr-o singura zi la tot anul si mai ales asignarea la 1 sala numai....

Inca odata intervin..suntem apropape de final, avem chiar un website pe care il utilizam pentru optimizare (daca vrei, iti trimit PM cu link-ul)...mai ramane o problema..
Dupa intocmirea orarului mai la toti anii, am nevoie de o optiune care vad ca nu se regaseste in meniu....am "lock entire timetable" si pentru ajustari mai fine as avea nevoie de posibilitatea de a da "unlock" doar la un an sau grupa.....acuma e disponibila doar optiunea pentru o anume zi sau "ends the student day"...
Exista ceva ascuns care sa ma ajute sa fac asa ceva?

Liviu, doar o scurta intrebare...de mai bine de 2 luni experimentez...se pare ca iese ceva....am sa te anunt la "marele final"
E cam complicat, dar ar rezolva o problema mare pentru mine.
Stii bine ca in facultate, lucrarile practice/seminariile se desfasoara pe grupe...unui numar de grupe i se poate asigna profesorul x, altui numar de grupe profesorul y etc. Ce am observat eu ca se poate lucra doar cu asignarea precisa  la g1, g2, g3 etc a profesorului x sau y sau z. Exista cumva posibilitatea ca softul sa repartizeze aleator lui x sau y sau z un numar de grupe presatbilit, nu neaparat g1,g2,g3 etc (asa cum trebuie asignat acum?). Ar fi foarte util fiindca astfel se poate face o miscare mult mai ampla si o paleta mai larga de posibilitati de combinare, mai ales ca de obicei profesorii lucreaza cu mai multi ani, nu numai cu unul......
